This beautiful beachfront house dating from the 1920’s is now one of the best restaurants in Varadero. Legend says that well-known gangster Al Capone may have been the owner of this beach-house in the late 20’s, although a sign at the restaurant’s door states that he never actually lived there. But one thing's for sure, the Chicago mobster did favour Cuba with his repeated presence during the Prohibition-era.
No matter what is the “real” link between Big Al and this stunning stone and wood house, the restaurant is worth a visit for its large selection of meals and wines and good service. Their specialty is seafood and paellas. You can also just go for a drink and enjoy its unique ambiance and fantastic views, or just make a photo-stop. Getting there is very easy as it is an official stop of the hop-on hop-off double-decker bus that does the Varadero circuit.
